Gavin's First Christmas!

Gavin walking into the living room on Christmas morning.

 "I eat the stocking, right?"

"Or maybe this clementine that was in it..."

 Opening gifts

 Loves his ball

 Don't mind my lovely hair-do.
(Suffering from another sinus infection = no energy to look 1/2 presentable)

Santa snuck an iTunes gift card into Matt's stocking.

Gavin loves the mirror Matt gave me.

I had been telling Matt for weeks in advance that he couldn't open the closet in the sewing room b/c "something special" was in there.  Well, Christmas eve came and it was crunch time to make that "something special" complete.  I spent most of the day before Christmas locked up in said room listening to the hum of my sewing machine.  I was worried Matt might know what I was making him so to throw him off, I wrapped a card in the above box that said, "You can look in the closet now."  (When I asked him what he thought it was he said, "a pair of gym shorts?")  :)  Yep.  I fooled him.

So Matt went to the closet and found...

Voila!!!  His very own sentimental EFY blanky made out of old polo shirts from all the years he worked as a counselor there.  (I know he LOVES it - minus the fact that it's a bit rainbow-y, but hey... considering the colors I had to work with...)

And... that's a "wrap"!  Our Christmas (And Gavin's 1st) was awesome!!!!!!

Little Shepherd Boy

Gavin dressed as a little shepherd boy, complete with sheep dog, for the Sorensen Family Nativity.

He was so happy to walk right up to where baby Jesus lay.

 So very happy, indeed.

Aunt Louie put together a nice Sorensen Family Christmas Party the evening of the 22nd with the theme, "Sorensens Have Talent!"  We ate a nice meal with shredded beef/chicken sandwiches and dutch oven potatoes, children performed the nativity, Santa came, then Sorensens showed off their talents.  Our camera died during the nativity, so no pics of this uproarious event.  So sad.  :(

Some Holiday Cheer

On Saturday the 22nd, my family got together for a little Christmas party.  We assembled at Tyler & Amber's house and ate a nice meal, played some "Minute to Win It" games - Christmas style, and opened presents.

Bailey and Gavin with Amber and Grandma
(Matt and I think Bailey looks like a Cabbage Patch doll.)

 The Kid Table

 The Adult Table

Grandpa holding Braden up by his britches.

 "Let it Snow"
1st person to empty the Kleenex box one tissue at a time wins.

 "Elf Bowling"
Knock down water bottles with pantyhose/tennis ball on head.

"Jump 'n' Jingle"
Shake 'til all the ornaments fall out of the tissue box.

"Rudolph Game"
Vaseline on nose, ribbon in mouth, and swing it 'til the pom pom lands on your nose.

 "Snow Ball Throw"
Crumple up paper and see how many you can throw through a wreath.

 "Christmas Ball"
Race to fan the ornament across the line.

 "Christmas Tree Stack Up"
One handedly stack then un-stack a tree.

 "Christmas Card Cliffhanger"
Blow a Christmas card across the table and see if you can get it to hang 1/2 way over.

" The Gift that Keeps on Giving"
Wrap a small gift/money inside a box, inside a box, inside a box, etc.  Race to open the gift with ski gloves on before the person next to you rolls doubles.

 Presents!

 Brielle and her pony

What would a Sorensen party be w/o one of these pictures?

 More presents!

 Even more presents!

(But what's better than a present to an 8 month old?  The wrapping and bows!)

Temple Square Lights

Our friends, the Timothys, invited us to go see the lights at Temple Square the Friday before Christmas.  It was the perfect evening to go - not too chilly.

We love to see the temple!

Inside the Joseph Smith Memorial Building

 Enjoying the lights

We ate at City Creek's food court afterward.  I'm not sure what kind of affect the Chinese food had on Matt???

Anderson Kid Party

On Dec. 20th, we had a little Christmas party for the Anderson kids.

 Our lovely hostess, Joni

 Pizza & breadsticks were served.

 White Elephant Gift Activity

Gavin got a snowman water bottle.  (Perfect for him.)

 Lili - loving the moment.

The kids played some games and rotated around to play them.  I was in charge of "Don't Eat Santa!"

Then they performed the Nativity.  Gavin was Baby Jesus again.  He's pretty much mastered the part.

I taught everyone some songs before...

 Santa arrived!!!!!

Santa knew everyone's name and belted out those Ho Ho Ho's.  He did an awesome job, and the kids said some pretty funny things.

Gavin with his goodie bag from Santa AND... no pants.  (Maybe that's what he asked Santa for...)

Shhhhhh!  (Don't tell Matt!)
