Boo Day 2018

Happy Boo Day to YOU!  Our 9th annual Boo Day was on Halloween.  I barely got my taste buds back in time for it.  Thank goodness!  This year Boo Day was low-key, but still a nice evening.

The bloody FEET LOAF was tasty,

As well as the DRACULA FANGS.

Kathy, Loren and Brittney were our guests.

Then after the meal it was into costumes for Trick or Treats.
Gavin was Inspector Gadget.

Laynie was Uncle Gadget's niece, Penny.

Brittney was Purple Super Hero (upon Laynie's request).

Matt and I were Roald Dahl and The Grand High Witch.  (My bald head inspired this costume duo.)

Laynie and her CANDY.

Laynie loves Brittney - who doesn't, right??!!

Gavin quickly ditched his costume for comfy pjs but we made him put it back on bc we went to Matt's brother's house for their "Haunted Castle" (which was awesome) and then to Kathy and Loren's for a trick or treat visit from the kids.

And before leaving for the haunted castle, we had our cake and ate it too.
Boo Day cake aflame!

Matt Turns 35

Matt turned 35 on Monday, Oct. 29th.  His only requests were to have homemade Oreo cookies and watch "A Wicked Halloween," a tv special.  Since we don't have tv channels, Matt asked his parents if we could watch the special on their tv and Kathy offered to make a steak dinner for the occasion.  I brought the Oreo cookies and it all made for a nice evening.  Matt is a little obsessed with Wicked.  He's seen it 4 times - twice in NYC, in California, and in SLC.

Pumpkin Carving 2018

Every year Matt insists we carve pumpkins.  The kids love it - even though Matt and I end up carving theirs.  But there is something magical about putting a tea light in them and watching them glow.

Laynie's "Little Mermaid" and Gavin's "Jack" pumpkins.

My "Cancer Ribbon" and Matt's "Superman" pumpkins.

Pumpkin Walk

On Saturday, Oct 27th, we drove to the Central Utah Water Conservancy District in Orem and participated in their free "Pumpkin Walk."  I found out about it through a mailer and thought it might be lame or overly-crowded because it was free, but it was neither!  I couldn't believe the money that was dumped into the event - giving away free donuts, crafts, prizes, etc.  And the kids really had a fun time.  Matt's work didn't do Cornbelly's this year, so it was the perfect alternative.

Donuts!  Everyone in costume got a free donut.

Jack-o-lantern craft

We voted for the Wreck-it Ralph pumpkin.

Lots of people had entered and there were some amazing carvings/paintings.

A professional carver was hard at work.

Final Chemo Treatment!!!

On Friday, October 19th, I had my final chemo treatment.  I laughed, and I cried.
The chemo doctor told me that it'll take 6-12 months for my body to heal and to not get discouraged if I'm not back to myself in a month's time.  I'm glad he warned me about that because I'm soooooooo ready to have my life back!  I want to run around the block screaming, "Hallelujah!"  But I'm not physically able to do that... yet.

Tradition: #6 Matt n Me Selfie

My awesome nurses:  Lisa and Andrew

Ringing the bell!  I rang it once for each chemo treatment.

Picture with my #1 support outside the cancer center.  Matt has been my everything.

Now it's 10 days of night sweats, diarrhea, nausea, dizziness, died off taste buds, sore muscles, etc...  Wish me luck!

Round Five

Welp...  I made it to holding up an entire hand.  September 28th was treatment #5.  Just one more treatment after this and I'll be done.
