I Caved....

The kids have been saving up their money and REALLY wanted to buy a Nintendo Switch.  So... I caved!  I'm very much against video games.  According to Gavin, I'm a mean mom because I only let hime play for 30 minutes a week.  (He'll thank me when he's older.)  But because both my kids are good about only doing 30 min/week, I wanted to reward them.  So... I let them buy the Switch.  They also bought a Minecraft game to go with it.

Sacrocolpopexy

Well, I've had quite the interesting last two weeks.
On Friday, April 12th, I was taking Aunt Greta to see her doctor and he was telling her that she was having issues with her back. My own back soon started to feel pain and I thought I was having sympathy pains. By the time the appointment got over, I had helped Greta run a few errands and dropped her off at her house, I was feeling uncomfortable and a wave of nausea hit me so hard that I had to rush to Aunt Greta's bathroom and dry heave into her toilet. My belly was filled with gas and I wasn't feeling all that great. So I excused myself and drove home. While driving home, the pain just kept getting worse and worse along with the nausea. I hurried into the house, dry heaved again in the toilet and called Matt on my phone. Luckily he was working from home and we decided I needed to go to the ER. I was writhing in pain by this point on my right side.

I got admitted and they gave me medicine that alleviated the nausea and pain. They did a CT scan and couldn't see anything out of the ordinary but assumed something was kinking either my ureters or urethra. So they referred me to a urologist.

I had to wait until Monday to see the urologist and they ordered a special nuclear renal test to be done on my kidneys. I had to wait until Wednesday to have that test done - all the while, I was unable to eat anything but saltine crackers. I felt extremely nauseated and was in quite a lot of discomfort. On Thursday, I was so dehydrated that Matt took me to instacare to get some fluids put into me via an IV.

That helped me feel better and Friday, the urologist office had me come in to get the test results. The PA was so frustrating. She wouldn't give me her professional opinion and was snobbish. I don't care to ever see her again. Turns out my right kidney was only functioning at 27%. My bladder is sinking and the PA told me I could get a Sacrocolpopexy where they would l lift everything up with a mesh and attach it to ligaments or my tailbone but it wasn't a guarantee it would solve the problem.

Gavin Turns 12!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GAVIN!!!!!!!
On April 6th, Laynie woke up early to help prepare breakfast in bed for her favorite brother.

We had a nice dinner with Grandma/pa Anderson that evening - all of Gavin's favorites:  pizza, breadsticks, salad and soda pop!

Laynie gave Gavin a Star Wars figurine and a kit to put together another pinewood derby car.

Mom and Dad gave Gavin cash - stuffed in balloons as well as some army men figurines.

I made an army cake (2 of them, actually).  We at one on his real birthday and froze the other and saved it for after Spring Break when his friends could join him at FatCats on the 10th for...

arcade games!

We drove back to the back yard after arcade games for cake, ice cream, and presents and yard games.  I think the boys had a good time.  This was Gavin's LAST big friend party.  He's having lots of "lasts" lately...  last day of primary, last year of elementary school, etc.  He's growing up, and a huge part of me wants to keep him little forever!
