Christmas 2013

'Twas the Night Before Christmas...

Christmas Morning

 Slam dunk!

 Stocking Sweets

Surprise!  An electric toothybrush!  (No more cavities for this fellow!)

I never knew my thumb was crooked.

Totally thought this was going to be a necklace...
  A push broom, baby!
 (I really like it!)

 Baba Break

 Children's Book of Mormon

 Puzzle

Book from Great Grandma Sorensen

 Handsome.

 Handsome.  Handsome.

Another "Super Cave"!  Thank you, Grandma Sorensen!

Christmas Kiss

Ready to Ride!

Aunt Bobbe gave us a machine called Babycakes.  And I think it's kinda funny and slightly ironic that she's holding a baby in the background...

Grandma Anderson gave Gavin a personalized activity book for church/quiet time.

Had a nice Christmas feast, but all G wanted to eat was potato chips.  Sigh.

Getting the crab out took all of Matt's concentration.  (Every last drop of it.)

Havin' a Holly Jolly Christmas!

We got together on the 21st of December for a little Sorensen Family Fun.
First we partied with our immediate family:

Drawing Christmas tree scenes on paper plates over our heads.  Points were awarded for getting the tree on the floor, the most ornaments on the tree, etc.

 A Date with Mr. BigShot.
Mother had all the grandkids mesmerized with her make-up applying skills.  (And yes, that is an eyelash on her cheekbone.)

We couldn't stop laughing!

All ready for a date with Grandpa!

Then we partied with our extended family:
Gavin wouldn't look at Santa.  He just had this stern face and furrowed brow the entire time.  We had been practicing the word "bike," but when Santa asked him what he'd like for Christmas he became mute.

And this family picture pretty much sums up this party.  Gavin was wired, and Matt and I were frazzled from chasing him around the gym and keeping him off the stage the entire evening.

The Renovation (Part 1)

 Daddy's Little Helper

Justin (Matt's brother) texturizing the walls

Bye, bye, hardwood floor.  (We don't get why anyone would want that stuff in a bedroom...)

Matt's sore hands from ripping out the hardwood floor

Bye, bye laminate flooring.  Yeah, we're carpet people.  :)

 Hello, primer!

I've been doing all the edges 'til my hand starts to cramp and...

... Matt's been doing all the rolling.  (How do you like this action shot?!)

To be Continued...

Keepin' Busy

With the weather being cold, Gavin and I no longer go for morning walks.  We've had to find other forms of entertainment.

I got 2 felt books at DI for 25 cents each and the G-Man loves putting all the felt pieces on each page.

Gavin has loved looking at the ornaments on the tree.  I've been so impressed with how he hasn't tried to take any off...

I told him it was called a cave and ever since he's been calling it a "Super Cave".  Definitely one of his favorite places (if not the only place) to play while I'm upstairs cooking.

He likes to get into my school supplies/games and it just astounds me at what he has been learning and all that he can remember.

O Tannenbaum, O Tannenbaum!

Due to the major construction going on upstairs, we've moved practically everything downstairs to avoid the dust, dirt, nails and paint.  We have actually been basement dwellers for close to a month now.  So, with circumstances being as they are, we spruced up a corner in the basement for the little blue spruce and enjoyed the tradition of decorating it.

 Inspecting the ornaments

Gavin had gone to bed by this point so Matt did the honors of putting the star on top.

...And here she is in all her glory!

[Don't] Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow!

I'm not fond of snow or the cold, but I know we need it.

Gavin's not too fond of it either.  He started crying and asked to be taken back inside shortly after I took this photo.  (He'd been outside for less than 10 minutes.)

It sure does make for a pretty scene, though.
