Frightmares!

 We got free tickets through Matt's side gig at Soulence to go to Frightmares at Lagoon! The new ride, Primordial was open.  We waited close to 2 hours to go on the 4 minute ride!  LOL!  But it was worth it!  We met a cute couple from California and talked with them and also played Heads Up (a charades game on our phones) to help pass the time away.

We also had to go to all of the little kid tick or treat places (Laynie insisted, and we obliged.)

We tried to get her to go to the FUN HOUSE, but she didn't want to go.  Finally after some convincing, Dad carried her through.  This reminds me of the last time we entered a clown house at Corn Bellies.  Laynie was around 2 years old and clung to Daddy the same way.  LOL

We ate a nice hamburger meal with the Soulence crowd then went on more rides.  I love the Turn of the Century ride all lit up!  I believe it's the oldest ride still operating there.

Mom couldn't take anymore dizzying rides so she sat on a bench while the kids and daddy rode the teacup.

My 30th 1st day of school!

Today was my 30th first day of school.  13 firsts with K-12, 5 more firsts with college, 7 firsts when I taught kindergarten and 5 firsts with preschool.  I'm not sure how much longer I can keep this up! lol!

I have a sweet class this year, but boy did I earn the money I made.  One little boy (he just turned 3 in May so he's super young) cried for his mommy nonstop for about 15 minutes.  The other kids were covering their ears.  I tried everything to distract him.  Finally, I called him mom to come comfort him.  He was able to calm down and join back with the class once she was there.  I sure hope he can have a good experience at preschool.  My class is designed for 4s turning 5.  There's a huge difference, maturity wise, between a 3 yo and a 4 yo.  I guess time will tell...

 

Enjoying Mother Nature

Little Cottonwood Canyon - Nanette, Kami and I took an evening to catch up with one another.  I love these girls and their strong testimonies!

The Lightening Hike - Gavin and dad went up the hill close to Hidden Hollow Elementary for a scout camp, but they had to pack up and move to lower ground to stay safe from lightening.  They set up camp again, only to have to pack up again a couple hours later because lightning was projected to pass right over them.  They got home at 2 a.m. in the morning!

Matt took the kids to Father and Kids Campout at Payson Lakes.

Laynie in front of a double rainbow.  It's been a wet year - filled with lots of moisture.  We've needed it!  Hopefully we'll have another year just like this one.

 

5th Water Hot Springs near Spanish Fork

Labor Day Weekend 2023 was oh so nice!  Matt and I were able to go to the temple to see Brayden and Allure get sealed.  They were married civilly 2 years ago.  We then got our kids and came to Grandma's house for a nice luncheon afterward.  Kathy did a nice salad bar.  We hurried home, got all our hiking gear ready then drove past Spanish Fork to the trail head for 5th Water Hot Springs.  It was a 5 mile hike round trip and Gavin needed to go on one that long for a scouting requirement.

These were the upper pools.  We didn't get in them bc they were much hotter than the lower pools.

We got home late, went to church the next day, and Monday was a rainy, get things done around the house kind of day - laundry, groceries, getting ready for the first day of pre-k, etc.
