Seussical the Musical

Alayna and Gavin were part of a children's community theatre - Seussical the Musical!  For the month of June, Laynie had rehearsals each day for 3 hours.  After 4 weeks of practice, they put on a show that was amazing!  Laynie was cast as a Yellow Who Girl.  She was so fun to watch, and she shined on stage.  Gavin wanted to help behind the scenes with props and scenery.  He did such a good job helping out where needed and knowing when to bring in the next thing.

Alayna asked if her 2nd grade teacher could come.  I reached out to her on fb and she came!  Mrs. Loredo is one amazing teacher!  It really made Laynie's day to have her there.

Britters and Grandma/pa also came to support the thespian and stage hand.  ;)

I even got to help out by making a couple pieces of the scenery.  This here boat as well as a circus tent that I hot glued long strips of plastic to a large umbrella for.

The thespians were showcased at a Monday Funday even where they sang a couple of their songs for an audience at the park.  Can you tell Laynie was getting into it?!?  She loves this kind of thing and after the play was over, she kept asking me when she could do another.

Hutchings Museum

On June 24th, we used our Get Out Pass for free admission to the Hutchings Museum.  It's a rather eclectic museum full of old, odd and interesting things.  It's in the heart of Lehi and I've always wondered what as inside.  It was kinda fun to visit this little relic of history here in Utah County.

Saratoga Springs Open House

Shortly after we moved to Saratoga Springs, we were watching General Conference and the prophet announced a temple would soon begin being built in Saratoga Springs!!  WHAT A BLESSING!!  I remember thinking Gavin would be 10 or 11 when it was done and that seemed so far in the future.

Over the past 5 -1/2 years, we've gotten to see the temple being erected.  Watching it go from steel beams to stained glass perfection was a sight to behold.  We'd often go for Sunday walks around the temple and eagerly await it's completion.  Well, it is now completed.  It's Open House was from May to July.  Matt, Gavin and I got to help out with the Open House on June 22nd.  Gavin helped put shoe coverings on people, Matt helped out at the Stake Center, and I got to have a speaking part outside the Bride's Room.  There is such a feeling of love and happiness that resides inside the temple.  I can't wait to attend the Saratoga Springs temple on a regular basis and feel of that love and happiness more fully in my life.  The Open House is over now and the temple will be dedicated in 4 weeks' time.

Fathers are So Special

We love our DAD!  Matt woke up on Father's Day and we pampered him by giving him a back massage, a foot spa, and opening gifts.  He quietly does so much for our family each day, always stepping in and offering help when I need it.  He loves his children deeply and works hard each day to provide for our family.  We are so blessed to have him in our lives!

Gavin gave Dad a Selfie Stick.

Laynie loves to give gifts she makes.

After pampering Dad, Gavin and Laynie piled all their stuffies on the bed.  But wait!  Where's Laynie?!  See if you can spot her head!!

A Traveling Piano Recital!

Gavin's piano teacher quit teaching piano in March so, with Gavin's permission, I became his teacher. I think it's worked out really well. (And I think Gavin would say the same. Lol!) Gavin is very dutiful and although it gets hard/frustrating at times, he's able to push through and he's becoming a great pianist.

It was also the perfect time to start Laynie with piano as well. She was so excited to learn and she's picking it up beautifully and has a knack for rythm. ;)

As a way to celebrate their piano accomplishments, I hosted a traveling piano recital for the two of them. They went to Brittney's, Aunt Greta's, Grandma/pa's and Uncle Justin and kids. It was a bit tricky to schedule, so in the future, I think I'll just do 3 places instead of 4. We toted our keyboard around in case a house didn't have a piano.

Gavin played: Epic, Perilous and a duet with me called Lollipop Bop

Alayna played 3 duets with me: School Bell is Ringing, Catch a Falling Star, and I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing.

Saratoga Splash Days 2023

Saratoga Springs celebrates Splash Days the first week in June.  The Saturday parade goes right by our neighborhood.  Gavin wanted to be part of the Scout float again this year, so he dressed in his class A uniform and had a fun time riding his scooter.  Laynie watched the parade and got a bag full of swag and candy.
