Summer Vacation - Covid-19 Style!

We took a fun, little vacation at the end of July.  On Monday, July 27th, we packed up the van and headed to Layton, Utah to go to SeaQuest - a fun and interactive aquarium.

Then we travelled to Logan and made it our home base.  We stayed at a hotel there and set off each day for a new adventure.

On Tuesday, we went up Logan canyon and hiked the Wind Caves.  Laynie's feet had grown since she last wore her running shoes and she cried all the way down of squished toes!  Needless to say, we went to Walmart afterward and bought her a new pair! LOL  After hiking the Wind Caves, we continued up Logan Canyon all the way to Bear Lake.  I had never been.  We went to a beach and let the kids play in the sand.  About 20-30 minutes later, a huge storm rolled in and everyone vacated the lake quickly.  The storm was supposed to last a few hours so we travelled back to Logan and ate at Chili's.

Wednesday found us traveling westward to Promontory Point, Utah (where the transcontinental railroad came together on May 10, 1869) and the Spiral Jetty (a man made work of natural art made in the 1970s).  The water around the spiral jetty is a pale pink, thanks to the bacteria that reside there.  It was beautiful.  We also explored a nearby place where oil was rigged man many years ago.

We went to Macey's for ice cream then walked around the neighborhood.  This was actually one of my fondest memories.  Family togetherness can be as simple as a walk outdoors.

That evening, we walked around Utah State University's campus.

On Thursday, our last day, we checked out of our motel room then drove down to Syracuse, Utah - all the way to Antelope Island.  It was an extremely hot day, but we were able to go into the visitor's center, go on a short hike, eat our lunch, see some buffalo, and visit the homestead ranch of the Garr Family.

Summer Daze (Part 2)

We drove over to see how the Saratoga Springs Temple is coming along!  Just a couple more years and it should be ready!!!

I planted hollyhocks in the spring and they are looking ever so beautiful!  They remind me of my Aunt Debbie.  She had some along the backside of her home growing up and she taught me how to make a little dolly from the flowers, buds, and a couple of toothpicks!

Boys will be BOYS! LOL!

For the 24th of July, we made homemade butter, told a few pioneer stories then Grandpa bought some fireworks to light up the sky!

Gavin climbed Neptune Park's rope mountain for the first time ever!
