44 and 9 - Birthday Bashes

I turned 44 on the 10th of January and Laynie turned 9 on the 12th.  We had a fun birthday week together.  On the 10th, a snow squall ravished though Saratoga Springs.  Our plans to eat out were thwarted, but I had prepared a meal just in case that happened so we ate it, sipped hot coco, and watched the last Harry Potter movie.  Gavin had just finished reading the series for the 2nd time through and in celebration, wanted to watch all the movies again as well.  So that's what we did.
On the 12th, we had Grandma/pa Anderson over for dinner and cake.
4 and 4 = 44

what could be in these beautiful boxes and bags?

A necklace from Laynie.

A laundry hamper from Matt.

a note saying a Hoberman Ball would soon be delivered.

Pot rack!

The kids insisted on pampering me.  I graciously accepted!

We took Grandma/pa Anderson Chili's on Laynie's birthday.

Fun Stitch things from Grandma/pa and a bracelet kit.

We gave Laynie art supplies and a notebook.

Then on the 13th, we had a "Disney Stitch" birthday party for Laynie and 12 of her friends.  Laynie is obsessed with Stitch.  She helped plan her party right down to the little details.
Before the guests arrived, we took a few pics:

the decor...

the cake...

the table setting...

As the party guests arrived, they made their own paper flower lei.

Then we played a game called Dart Frog, but we changed it's name to 626.  (Stitch was first know as Experiment 626, an alien.)  One person is 626 and there are 2 detectives (Jumba and Pleakley) and 626 sticks his tongue out at the villagers, they die.  The detectives have to figure out which person is 626.

The kids then got in line for the limbo!

And we had a little art contest to see who could draw Stitch the best.  :)

Presents were opened.

We served cupcakes and snow cones for the treat and gathered for one final picture.

Ringing in the New Year - 2024

We had a fun little NYE party with Grandma/pa.  We ate lots of snacks foods and watched the ball drop in NYC at 10 pm.
Happy New Year!  2024!

We had such a looooong Christmas break - 8 days after the new year and I didn't have anything planned.  So, we used our Get Out pass and went to The Leonardo Museum in SLC.

Gavin received the Aaronic priesthood. We had a nice little gathering at our house with Grandma/pa and Gavin's friend, Michael.  Joni and Justin had a family gathering that evening for Tim as he became a Teacher in the priesthood.  Here are all the boy cousins.  I hope they all stay with the gospel as they get older and become a force for good.

Preschool started back up on the 9th and we had a snow day.  My class is the most immature class I've had to date.  Half of them ended up crying because they didn't like the cold...  Luckily I took this pic BEFORE all the crying began!

Gavin - off to his first day of Young Mens.  I'm so proud of Gavin and the amazing boy he's becoming.  He's been excited to enter YM, receive the priesthood, attend the temple, and everything else that has to do with GROWING up.  Me on the other hand?  I'm in denial.  I want him to stay little.... forever.
