Get Out Pass 2023

For Christmas, Matt and I gave our family "Get Out Passes."  One of the places to go is Lagoon.  We went on May 30th and it was ideal - perfect weather, no lines to get on rides, and we had lots of fun.  The kids start up a summer full of activities soon so we checked this off the list early.  

I sure love Lagoon!  The summer my mom died, we had season passes.  Care-taking is no joke.  It's so hard to see a loved one's health deteriorate and the care is constant.  I would go down to Gunnison and help my mom for 3-4 days and then come back up to Saratoga and take care of my family.   On the days we could sneak away as a family, we went to Lagoon.  It was a welcome reprieve.  It helped me smile and laugh during a hard summer.

So for this reason, Lagoon has a special place in my heart, and I'll always be thankful for the good times had within its gates.

Arrow of Light + Crossing Over

Gavin is no longer a cub scout.  He official joined the Troop in June and he's been enjoying it thus far.  In May, there was a den meeting called a Crossover where all the boys going into the troop are honored and receive their arrow of light.  Gavin was the only Webelo crossing over.  There are a bunch of other first year Webelos, but Gavin has been the only one in his age group for the last 2 years.

Congrats, Gavin!  Way to work hard and receive your Arrow of Light.  Looking forward to seeing what you accomplish in the Troop!

Hope of America

I may have had to twist Gavin's arm a bit to get him to do Hope of America. But I think he was glad he participated once it was all said and done. 

What is Hope of America?

Any 5th grader in Utah County can choose to participate, and most do! They have a few different nights where different schools are assigned to put on a patriotic program. The students learn the songs prior to getting together for their one practice then performance. They meet in the Marriot center at BYU and sing around 10 patriotic songs. The lady that wrote the script was truly inspired. It is patriotic to the max and leaves you proud to be an American!

Gavin was in the top right section (with red shirts), second row down from the top and around the 4th or 5th kid in from the aisle.

They each brought a flashlight for this song.
