Camp Kesem 2025

July 7-11, the kids attended Camp Kesem at Camp Wapiti in the foothills of Tooele.  Camp Kesem is a camp for children, ages 6-18, who are experiencing a parent with cancer.  Laynie was super excited to attend.  Gavin was a bit apprehensive about it.
The kids chose "camp names."
Laynie's name was JADE because she loves the color green and she likes to find pretty rocks.

Gavin's name was ORANGE CHICKEN because he loves chickens and his favorite food is orange chicken.

The final morning at camp, the kids had closing ceremony.  Matt and I were able to attend.  It was a bit emotional.  These kids are pretty amazing and I think their camp experience was too.

July 4th in Colonial Times

This year, for the 4th, we went to Orem's Colonial Festival at the Scera Park.  They do SUCH A NICE JOB!!!  Grandma/pa Anderson came with.
We ate a Subway sandwich lunch at the park then...

walked around and listened to Monologues,

had Gavin attend a colonial school,

researched our relatives that rode the Mayflower

My 9th great grandfather, James Chilton, was among them.

Then we tried to go to see a live performance, called the Sounds of Freedom, but it was too full, so the kids did a photo-op in Benjamin Franklin's sedan chair instead.  ;)
